Lucas Rotman
March 19, 7:00 PM
A Brooklyn‑based singer‑songwriter, Lucas Rotman's lyric‑driven Mosaic Americana captures the breadth of the human experience. His music blends the whimsical with the profound, drawing on Americana traditions, his Japanese/Jewish‑American heritage, and an inner‑city upbringing to shape a voice that is both distinctive and deeply rooted in community.

His songs connect hearts through poetic imagination, vivid storytelling, and performances that balance intensity with playful spontaneity. Rotman won First Place in the 2023 Music for Humanity Contest.

Writing and performing together since 2007, Mallory Graham and Scott Tyler inevitably formed The Rough & Tumble in 2011 as the friends turned into bandmates. In 2015, after a bad Nashville landlord left them without heat for twelve days during an ice storm, the bandmates-turning-spouses decided to hit the road. They sold everything they could, bought a sixteen-foot camper (despite the warning of their families and the lot salesman), packed up their instruments, their dogs, and a couple of small trinkets shaped like elephants and mice that they couldn’t part with, and hit the road.
This dynamic duo has been captivating audiences with their unique blend of dumpster-folk and thrift store-Americana for over a decade. The Pennsylvania-born Graham and Central California's Tyler have a knack for weaving together elements of joy, sorrow, comedy, and drama in their music, leaving audiences on the edge of their seats.

They’ve been touring relentlessly ever since with their two 100 lb rescue dogs, Mud Puddle and Magpie Mae, in spite of multiple burnt up axles, busted tires, and consistent water leaks.

Low Lily
April 12, 3:00 PM
With the release of their new record ‘Angels in the Wreckage’ (produced by Dirk Powell), the Vermont-based American Roots band LOW LILY brings their infectious sound to a new level. With the energy of fiddle music, the introspective quality of contemporary folk, the precision of bluegrass, and the drive of Americana, the members of Low Lily (Liz Simmons, Flynn Cohen, and Natalie Padilla) combine their individual talents into one stunning soundscape.
Low Lily has shared their signature sound with enthusiastic audiences throughout North America and the UK, garnering two #1 songs on international folk radio and two Independent Music Award wins. In 2018, the band released a full-length album with 2X award-winning title track “10,000 Days Like These" and their original song “Hope Lingers On”, which has been sung by choirs around the world as an anthem for peace and justice.

Mark Rubin-The Jew of Oklahoma
April 16, 7:00 PM

Mark Rubin, co-founder of the legendary Bad Livers, is a folk singer and multi instrumentalist who proudly bills himself as the “Jew of Oklahoma.” A pioneer of the Americana movement and lifelong genre-bender, he fuses bluegrass, klezmer, country, punk, and blues into a sound that’s equal parts tradition and rebellion. Called "one of the great Jewish musicians of our time" by the Weitzman Museum, Rubin's plainspoken songs mix sharp humor with a protest singer’s bite, carrying forward both his Jewish heritage and his Oklahoma roots. On stage with his banjo and guitar, he’s as comfortable in a honky-tonk as a synagogue hall, always delivering raw, unvarnished truth.

Folkus-NYC.org’s passion is supporting artists. Three generations of the Lowe family—Jeff, Carol, Matt, Brianna and Jonathan—collaborate to bring singer-songwriters, creators of original Americana, Folk, American-roots, Blues, Jazz, and World music to audiences at the Brooklyn Art Haus in Williamsburg. Artists perform in a dedicated listening room that recreates the warmth of a house concert. Following the concert, guests and artists enjoy social time and snacks from The Mouth, BAH's restaurant, in the comfortable lounge. Folkus-NYC invites music lovers of all genres to join us at BAH for this unique and intimate music experience.
